I travel a lot and I use Tripit.com for all my itineraries. I also use FlightTrack Pro and it syncs all my flights automatically from Tripit. This help me keep me up-to-date with any last minute flight and/or gate changes.

I use Lotus Notes as my email and calendar application on my Mac and I like having all my Tripit itineraries showing up on my Lotus Notes calendar. Today I found that I have to change the URL that Tripit tells me to use from “webcal://” to “https://” and it will work great.

So on the Tripit calendar instructions page under instructions for Lotus Notes, I had to also change the URL from:

webcal://www.tripit.com/feed/ical/private/.../tripit.ics

to

https://www.tripit.com/feed/ical/private/.../tripit.ics

After almost exactly one year my blog is now up and running again and a lot of things have happened since I last posted an entry.

I have a new employer and now work as a Sr. Technical Advisor for IBM. I started back in April and my primary job role is helping customers with their XPages in Notes and Domino, Social and Mobile decisions.

I worked for SNAPPS for 11 fulfilling years (about 22,000 hours) and I had a blast together with Rob Novak and my co-workers; Troy, Jerald, Julian and Melissa. Rob wrote a wonderful blog post of our years together on my last day at SNAPPS.

I have been accepted to speak at Lotusphere again. Lotusphere 2009 will be held at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando, Florida January 18-22. This year I have three sessions.

BP204 – Enhancing IBM Lotus Quickr for IBM Lotus Domino with Web 2.0 Integration

Troy Reimer, Viktor Krantz
These speakers were the driving engineering force behind the popular Lotus Quickr Templates that shipped with Quickr 8 and have been continually updated. As well, they have been working with Quickr and its predecessors since 2000, developing applications for the world’s largest Lotus Quickr customers. In this session, we’ll introduce you to some innovations that make Lotus Quickr even more valuable to your teams – integration with external sources, tagging, categories, and more. Learn the techniques and pre-packaged code libraries that make Lotus Quickr development easy and valuable to your organization.

BP215 -“The Great Code Giveaway”: The Art of the Possible

Rob Novak, Viktor Krantz
Once again, we’ve invested hundreds of hours into new examples and applications that will open your eyes to “The Art of the Possible” with Lotus software. In its eighth year at Lotusphere, The Great Code Giveaway provides you with a new perspective and new applications that you can use to enhance your IBM Lotus Domino investment. Come and watch while we unveil this year’s valuable – and free – applications and examples!

SHOW202 – Show ‘n Tell: Developing for Lotus Quickr Domino Services

Troy Reimer, Viktor Krantz
In this session, you’ll learn how to develop custom themes for Lotus Quickr, implement custom forms, and build an application that can actually be used in your organization. We’ve developed a template for you to follow along, learning the intricacies of Lotus Quickr development and the most efficient approaches to programming based on their experience with the platform. Take away new approaches, new methods, and a new appreciation for what you can accomplish with Lotus Quickr.

Collaboration University opened it’s new website today with a brand new fresh look. Registration also opened for the event. This year we will be in Chicago and London. This event is a deep focus on Lotus Quickr, Lotus Sametime and new this time Lotus Connections focused on on integration and APIs.
From Rob Novak’s site:

In Chicago we’ll be at the IBM Innovation Center, located on the Chicago River a few blocks from Michigan Avenue. I have visited the building twice this year, and folks it is a great place to have the size and type of conference we produce. In two weeks I’ll be in London visiting our venue there, IBM South Bank. Just a few blocks from Waterloo station, Marriott County Hall, the London Eye, and accessible from all over central London. Our dates (both start on a Monday and run through Wednesday)

Chicago: September 8-10, 2008
London: September 15-17, 2008

This year we are also trying a brand new workshop concept

For our workshops this year (Wednesday afternoon post-con), we’re trying something different. We’re going to give you a month’s experience in 3 hours! The workshop will focus on Quickr Domino development and administration. Developers will go to one room and work on an application – with significant help – for 90 minutes, while the admins will start with a “bare bones” install of Quickr and apply best practices security settings, modify LDAP, configure notes.ini and qpconfig.xml, and set up MSSO. Next, each developer will pair up with an admin to deploy the application and test it. If that’s not real-life enough, your resident business client (me) will request a critical change in the application so everyone – developers and admins alike – can learn what choices you have to make when deploying changes to a production Quickr environment.

Visit collaborationuniversity.com and look around and register early for discounts. We also have a discount for past Alumni this year.

Speaking of above bloggers, Collaboration University for Notes & Domino 8 still have seats available. This is the first technical conference on the new release. Other notible IBMers present at the event are Bob Balaban and Kevin Cavanaugh.

Hope you can join us.

UPDATE! I must be really tired. It’s not September but August 17 for the release date. I’ve changed the title of this post.

It’s been nearly four months since IBM said “go” on the Lotus Quickr template project that you’ve read so much about on my and other blogs. Today, after an exhausting but very rewarding development cycle, we get to say “go” too. Code was complete June 29 (as promised to IBM), testing on Lotus Quickr Gold code was July 2-6, last week was CU and finishing the download system, and this weekend we put the final touches on and did a limited test with IBMers. Then yesterday we knocked out one last bug in the download system after flying to London for Collaboration University this week.

In these last months I and the team at SNAPPS had a lot of fun developing these templates. I learned new code and got to dig really deep into the Dojo Toolkit which, you know by now, I really like.

So after all that we’re happy to announce that the SNAPPS templates for Lotus Quickr are ready for you. Make absolutely sure you get the documentation, read it, and install and sign the prerequisite files. Then go have some fun!

I will continue posting on developing and digging deeper into both Lotus Quickr as well as the Dojo Toolkit code.
