It’s been nearly four months since IBM said “go” on the Lotus Quickr template project that you’ve read so much about on my and other blogs. Today, after an exhausting but very rewarding development cycle, we get to say “go” too. Code was complete June 29 (as promised to IBM), testing on Lotus Quickr Gold code was July 2-6, last week was CU and finishing the download system, and this weekend we put the final touches on and did a limited test with IBMers. Then yesterday we knocked out one last bug in the download system after flying to London for Collaboration University this week.

In these last months I and the team at SNAPPS had a lot of fun developing these templates. I learned new code and got to dig really deep into the Dojo Toolkit which, you know by now, I really like.

So after all that we’re happy to announce that the SNAPPS templates for Lotus Quickr are ready for you. Make absolutely sure you get the documentation, read it, and install and sign the prerequisite files. Then go have some fun!

I will continue posting on developing and digging deeper into both Lotus Quickr as well as the Dojo Toolkit code.

  1. Hi,

    I am curious.

How did you manage the Domino login system (on the Quickr templates site) to accept an e-mail address as the login- (or user)name. I can’t get that to work…

    Fred

  2. Fred –
We just added the email address in the Full Name field.

  3. Viktor,
I am guessing most of the development was done with Dojo 0.4 since 0.9 came out only recently, though I guess you could have the inside track to the newer version. Reportedly there are big differences in the implementation in the newer version of Dojo. Do you expect any significant issues with applications needing recoding in future versions of Quickr which presumably will include Dojo 1.x?

  4. Roland –
We haven’t done any testing on what need to change when the new version of Dojo is released. 0.9 is still only in beta and we don’t know when IBM will put that release onto the server install. IBM is one of the major contributors to Dojo so I hope it will be soon after the release. You can count on that we will change our code as soon as it is available. The benefits with 0.9 and later 1.0 are substantial.

  5. Just a question, what is the support status for those templates? will they be supported by SNAPPS or IBM? If neither of them, how about establishing a forum to post any aventual problem and solution?

  6. As a recent adopter of Quickr and excited to provide the new templates to our users, I am interested in finding out if/where the support/bug forus might be.

    Regards,

    Sid Siegel

  7. Viktor,
Is there any documentation available on the process of how to develop these Quickr templates. I would also interested in knowing whether these templates can be applied both on Domino based quickr and Portal based Quickr.

    Thanks,
    Sirohi

  8. Sirohi,
There is no documentation available on these templates other than the install instructions. Much of the code is documented inline, inside the code itself.
The templates can only be applied on a Domino based Quickr.

    Sincerely,
    Viktor
