Introducing PandaBear for Lotus Quickr
PandaBear (Beta) is the code name for a desktop application of the research & development labs at SNAPPS, the company that also brings you QuickrTemplates.com. Use PandaBear for uploading, downloading and locating files stored in Lotus Quickr 8.1+.
Designed on the Adobe Air framework, PandaBear runs on Windows, Mac or Linux using the same application code.
Use cases for PandaBear include:
- Quickr places designed primarily for file sharing
- Organizations with Mac and/or Linux desktops
- Transient users of Quickr, who just need access to files
- Archiving folders, rooms, or even entire places full of files
- Your unique use case!
PandaBear features three intuitive screens.
On the Download screen, you get tree-style navigation of servers, places, rooms, folders, and files. Highlight a file, folder, room or place, and you can download the file contents to your machine. Double-click a folder and you have a temporary “drop zone” for uploading files. Just drag and drop files or folders over the drop zone and they’re uplaoded to your Quickr place.
On the Favorites screen, set up a list of places where you will commonly upload files, then double-click them to open the drop zone(s).
On the Settings screen, set up your connection to server(s).
PandaBear is free during beta, and is not time-locked or disabled in any way. Post-beta plans are still under consideration but will include a free version with all the capabilities of the beta version.

This looks cool reminds me of the old Domino.Doc desktop application that a BP produced (my users used to love it)
Now all we need is a document scanning and annotation client for Quickr and we will be getting close to what many of my customers need..

I have tried it.
Since we are on windows, I don’t see any major benefits over the Quickr Connector.
The Quickr connector has drag and drop file adding too.
What is the “Many more” ?
Can we as the users customize this app? Example: the panda image for drag and drop, would never fly, needs to look more professional.

INstalled software, trying to connect to server I get an error message.
“make sure your computer is connected to the internet and try again”
I have put in the URL exactly as it is in the connectors qualified by the http://
Any ideas?

PandaBear is still in Beta with many updates coming in the next few days. Customize the drop images will definitely be one of the updates coming soon.
One of the benefits with PandaBear is the ability to bookmark a specific folder inside a place for frequent uploads (and future downloads).
Stay tuned for new features being added soon.

Download, installed and tested today on Apple MAC. Works well. Look forward to the updates. Great to see this working on the MAC and Linux. Big plus as most of the IBM Connectors are limited to Windows at the moment. Good job.

I have Downloaded v0.52 for Linux and tried to connect to my quickr.
Does not work! I get an error “Error loading items”.
I used the http://... and I can connect to my quickr place using the url.
I use my IBM mail address as user id to authenticate.
Any clue what is wrong and where are the errors logged?

First of all the link you posted Web Application Integrator for IBM WebSphere Portal is the wrong one. The link you probably wanted to link to is: IBM Lotus Quickr Connector for Firefox.
Secondly I would like to know why you think that the Firefox plug-in is more “powerful” than PandaBear.

There are no official release dates for either PandaBear or Flippr yet.

I’ve installed PandaBear on mac and it works fine.

Is it planned to implement the version control and the checkIn/Out function in the future ?
